The G7 Knows All by John Anderson

We talk at great heights

Of substantial things

Abstracted beyond

Any pain

Or grittiness of what life really contains

In Athens, poor Athens

Reduced by so much

Their fate in the hands

Of those who talk at great heights

Life grinds

And those not at the great heights

Must conspire

To exist

In a fashion degrading

Austerity as an economic principle

Hurts not as much

As austerity in those who only eat once a day

Who can’t afford new clothes for their children

Forced into the black market by economic principle

But let us talk at great heights

For the viewer is kinder

The air smells sweeter

And the poor and the homeless

Are buried deep in the statistical analysis of self-delusion
