The white male talking head
on my television gushes
over Bruce Jenner’s sex change,
proclaims once she transitions
to Caitlin, she can serve
as a strong voice for women.
I pick my jaw up off the floor,
wonder what attribute qualifies her
to speak for generations
of marginalized females.
Is this a role she ever
wanted, envisioned?
News anchors fixate
on her altered appearance,
couture and makeup.
She is now officially
one more gal
to be judged solely
on the basis of looks
rather than substance.
