We Ponder Our Imbecilities by Jennifer Lagier

Frenzied Trumpsters growl,

seethe in the streets.

Turn out for rallies where

their filterless leader

pushes them over the edge

with resentment and hate.

Like Pavlov’s dogs,

the rabble salivates,

ready to savage anyone different

when he bellows gun control lies,

anti-immigrant sound bites,

waves a red flag.

Denied access to the American dream,

an emotionally manipulated mob

ignores statistics, reality,

undermines their own interests.

Brainwashed, they support

condescending economic elites.
