The American dream and her family
have finally boarded a plane
to escape the civil war
and fly to the land of the free.
At takeoff she holds the hands
of her little brothers beside her
and finally sleeps without fear
in the awkward seat on the plane.
Her father hands over the visas
but then they are taken aside
to a room without windows or water
and asked all the questions again.
The American dream holds the hands
of her little brothers beside her
while she and her family keep waiting
in the awkward chairs in that room.
Poignant words… well done!
