Poem for Hard Rain by Adam Steiner

Keeping our heads
Afloat above
The common pulse
Drilled to drown,

To turn away,
When there is nowhere
To turn
And face the stars
Dragged down to earth.

All lives being equal
Their stripes, being various,
Bled into one
Silent way.

All things being different
What you would have done,
Or tried to change,
You might still do
