National Poetry Day Freedom poems part 2: Unprofitable by Van Son Coaching

Last night when I was window shopping

I passed the cutest little store,

a second hand shop

one of those no-waste, do-good places

There it was, in the shopping window

between an ash tray and a VCR

a slightly dented piece of freedom

with none but a few scratches

I eyed it longingly

wondering if could I take it home

Would my partner like it?

Would it match our décor?

That dented, scratched piece of freedom

just lay there, not even calling my name

but I felt we belonged together

and rushed in to make a deal

What a waste

I couldn’t afford it

But I’m good

I’m waiting for the sale
