Gender Parity, by Anne Marie Butler

a poem for International Women’s Day

Woman, look up.
Fasten your livery
and project your voice.

Dig out your syllables
from the straw courts,
your theft is about to be heard.

Woman, look up.
You are not as you were.
It is you in their cupped ear.
