I’m scared to write this poem
And I don’t know where to start
For it would seem to indicate
A Nation torn apart
..
Some would have us believe
That words enrage, and feed a destructive flame
And its better to put up and shut up
But tell me, what good did silence do us
In a time not so long past?
..
I see an indelible hatred
Fed by rumours and lies
Bred from an inbred
Lack of knowledge of the real problems
..
Simple economic solutions sought
Based on
Shoddy, half baked theories bought
Over common sense
And a tearing down of brotherly love
That we dared to share
Just one or two decades ago
..
Surely that would be
Better revived
Than this core
Of corruption and deception
And unsubtle lies
Fed us from above
That deride good intentions
Breed fear and distrust
And prevents us
From reaching out
To our fellow Man
..
I’m scared to write this poem
And I don’t know where to start
For it would seem to indicate
A Nation torn apart.
