a society that holds little reverence
lacks any understanding of respect
forgets about loving kindness as an aspect
demonstrates a failure at deference
cuts justice from our world – a severance
feeble frail and incapacitated
are shuttled off to “homes” isolated
where home has a varnished false appearance
think back sons and daughters when you were young
did your parents work hard to shelter you
did you go to concerts where songs were sung
were you made to feel that you had value
life choices a matter of attitude
mostly that we owe a debt of gratitude
