About

I am not a silent poet welcomes quality poems of protest. We have been seeing such increasing evidence of abuse recently that we felt it was time to do something. I am not a silent poet looks for poems about abuse in any of its forms: colour, gender, disability, the dismantlement of the care services, the privatisation of health services, the rape culture, FGM, our girls in Nigeria are just some of the examples that come to mind at the moment.
It is not a site for rants. 

Please send all contributions for consideration to: reubenwoolley52@gmail.com. I would prefer attachments (especially for poems with unusual formatting and graphic material. You can add a brief biographical note and/or link to your website or blog.

  7. A much-needed site! A question, though, about contributions. Do you accept poetry that has either been posted on WordPress, FaceBook, etc., or has appeared in anthologies or independently published books? Thank you…

    • I’ll accept work that has already been published. Obviously, I prefer new material but that is not a cast-iron requirement. We will credit the previous publisher. Glad you like the site.

  8. Thanks for asking and the clarification regarding acceptance of previously published material, Reuben. You have accepted a piece or two of mine that were published online before. However, I have received a lot of rejections lately from cover journals and online zines for submitted pieces that were previosly published online on one site in particular that I usually post my work more as a sounding board as well as a vault for storing my poetry. More recently, both covered printed journals and online sites refuse to accept or reject submmitted work that has been posted on web-only sites. I really enjoy your site and find it to be a worthwhile media for poets and writers who care about the world we live in and the current events that we progressive writers feel strongly about.

    As a result of your reaching out to us who use our writing talent to express our point of views, I would like to once again become involved more in your site, rejections by other journals or webzines be damned. I do hope that you harbor no hurt or ill feelings for my absence. Mea culpa for letting my publishing ego get in the way.
