and goddesses

now lifeless,
who exist merely
in rote hymns
and flash protests
that adorn
ceremoniously
until candles melt
into the usual
life that goes
on and on
until it’s time
to bow
to pray
or prey
again.

below belt.
Molested.
Yet again
is life.

the past reels by the projector
devoid of light.
On a crowded street,
the relentless march of heads forces
a matching stride.
